Repayment with 10% interest will clear the mortgage and until this is done rent cannot be collected on the mortgaged property. Any and all buildings must be sold before this (for half the purchase price) and half the purchase price can be obtained for mortgaging the property.
Mortgaging owned properties can be a way to overcome financial struggles. For properties with no buildings but the player owners the whole color group, the rent is doubled. For example, all properties in the green group must have one house developed on them before there are two houses on one single property. Building can occur at any time but all properties in the color group must have the same level of development before the second phase can continue. When a player owns all properties in a color group they can begin building. Utilities: the rent payable is 4x the dice number and 10x if both utilities are owned.Railroads: $25 for one, $50 if the owner holds two railroads, $100 for three railroads and $200 if the owner holds all four.Rent for special properties are as follows: Any player landing on the property from this point must pay the owner the rent stated on the title deed depending on the number of houses/hotels built on the property. All players can bid on this and the highest bidder, provided they have the funds to purchase the property, becomes the owner. They may decline to purchase the property, in which case an auction for the specified property begins.
When landing on property spaces, the player can purchase the title deed from the bank for the stated purchase price. Players landing on a Community Chest or Chance space can pick up the corresponding card and follow the instructions stated. Players landing on the Luxury Tax and Income Tax spaces must pay the amount shown on the space. Note: rolling doubles will allow the player to leave jail and move, but they will not be able to roll twice consecutively. They can then proceed to move the number of spaces specified on their last dice roll. Where a player has failed to roll doubles on three attempts to get out of jail, they must pay the fine. Players in jail can get out by paying $50, rolling doubles or using special get-out-of-jail cards. Players can obtain $200 every time they pass GO, while players landing on “Go to Jail” must immediately do so. Rolling doubles gives the player the opportunity to roll again after they have moved, but rolling three doubles in a row will send the player to jail immediately (no spaces moved on the third roll).
Each player takes turns to roll two six-sided dice to determine how many spaces they are to advance in a clockwise direction.
